President’s Message – April 2009
We encourage communication from residents on issues and concerns that affect them personally and the community as a whole. These inputs are necessary to ensure that we address your concerns and help us in making decisions on improvements and to prepare and allocate budget resources that are in the best interests of our community. Please use the email address lindapickens676@suddenlink.net as listed in the THOA web site or call one of the Board members to make inquiries and to present concerns to the Board.
One area in particular that our Board is addressing this year is planning for potential improvements to Todd Denson Park to complement the existing playground. Over time we hope these improvements will not only result in increased use of the park but also enable it to become the non-golfing recreational center of our community. Some of the suggestions made so far include:
- Horse shoe pit
- Volleyball Court
- Half-court Basketball Court
- Shuffle Board Court
- Bocce Ball Court
- Additional fencing for pet control
We receive many suggestions but we don’t know if they reflect the overall desire of the community. Accordingly, we have set up a separate email address to be used for polling residents on improvements to the park. Please use this email address tabernavotes@yahoo.com to let us know your preferences or call one of the Board members if you don’t have internet access. Following your input, the Board will use your inputs to help guide our decisions as how to proceed. If you have a preference or a suggestion for something different, I’d be interested in your thoughts
In the interest of promoting events that foster neighborliness and a sense of community, the Board is tentatively planning to hold the annual Taberna Community Picnic in Todd Denson Park this coming fall. Last year’s event was very successful with almost 200 people attending. Again, we need to hear your voices to let us know that this is what you want us to continue doing. Additionally, it will need 3-4 people to volunteer to help in planning and coordinating this effort.
I hope everyone enjoys reading the article in this issue of the Tribune by Lynn and Don Rogers regarding their pet “Birdie”. I thank them for their generosity of time and funds to create a memorial for our deceased pets at the entry bridge to Todd Denson Park.
Occasionally I receive emails regarding the THOA’s stance on the appropriateness of materials written in Tab Mail. Tab Mail and the Taberna Tribune are forums independent of the THOA. Views and opinions expressed in Tab Mail are those of the writer and we do not try to control its content.
The monthly Board meetings will be held at the HOA office at 5:30 PM on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be April 8th . The office is located at 3950 US Highway East (Route 70 and Thurman Road). If you need directions to the office, call one of the Board Members or myself.
