President’s Message – August 2008

I am writing for Bob who is away on vacation.  I hope you are enjoying your summer with the kids and grandkids and vacation time away from work.

 

Please mark your calendar for the annual Taberna Community Picnic to be held on October 18th at Todd Denson Park.  This event promises to be fun with games for the kids, a BBQ and New Bern Fire and Police department exhibits and demonstrations.  A committee has been formed to lead this effort but they need volunteers to assist them in planning and coordinating activities.  If you can help, please call Bob Livingston at 636-1465.  Look for further details in the September Taberna Tribune.

 

Traffic safety remains a priority concern throughout our community.  In addition to crème filled donuts, the arrival of the Dunkin Donuts has brought us more outside traffic and additional issues.   Please read Larry Alderson’s Taberna Crime Watch article in this edition to learn how we are dealing with these concerns.  Another concern is the occasional placement of large piles of sand or mulch in the streets which can become an unintended hazard for road traffic.  Please try to clear these as soon as possible to minimize this risk.

 

As you may have noted from Dianne Dunn’s most recent State of the Market, homes in Taberna continue to sell despite the overall struggles of the housing market.  We have a very desirable community and the Board of Directors will continue to emphasize activities, such as the Beautification Projects, that enhance our community.  In addition, we are examining web based improvements that would enhance our on line visibility to those who may be considering New Bern as a home.

 

As a reminder, the BOD holds its monthly meetings at 5:30, on the third Tuesday of each month at the HOA office.  Taberna homeowners are welcome to attend these meetings.
