President’s Message – July 2008
By Bob Costanzo, President
Taberna Homeowners Association
During the first six months of this year we have been fortunate to have only a few minor problems in Taberna. In early June, the picnic table that belongs in the gazebo by the canoe dock was found in the water at Brices Creek. I would like to thank our residents Tim Klaumann, Bill Gibson and Bob Carnes for their efforts in retrieving the table from the water and returning it to its proper location. This was not an easy task, and I appreciate their willingness to help. A few days later, in the same area, two youths were seen attempting to break into a storage cabinet. Once they were aware that they had been spotted, they ran down the path to the parking lot. We can all help reduce vandalism if we stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the police.
Members and friends of the Buildings and Grounds Committee were busy last month spreading 40 yards of Certified Playground Mulch in the playground area at Todd Denson Park. They have also repainted the wood signposts green. Although these signs are maintained by the city, they do not paint the posts.
With the recent opening of Dunkin’ Donuts, the possibility of traffic accidents has increased on Taberna Way. From a safety perspective, I urge all drivers to be extra careful when entering Taberna from Route 70 or exiting onto Taberna way from Dunkin’ Donuts.
Earlier this year I suggested that homeowners check their homes to see if there was mold growing on the buildings and then consider having it removed as part of a spring “spruce-up.” While driving around the community I noticed a number of homes have been power washed, adding to the overall attractiveness of our community.
I have two important reminders for residents this month. As a precaution to prevent crime in our neighborhood, I would like to encourage residents to always close your garage doors and to lock all vehicles that are parked outside. The second one is a covenant issue relating to boats. Boats may not be parked on streets, driveways or on the property overnight unless they are enclosed within a garage.
The Board of Directors holds its monthly meetings at 5:30 PM, on the third Tuesday of each month at the HOA office. The office is located at 3950 US Highway East (Route 70 and Thurman Road). For directions to the office, call myself or one of the Board members. Any Taberna homeowner is welcome to attend these meetings.
