PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE, May, 2010
Rick Layton, President, Taberna Homeowners Association
The monthly Board meetings will be held at the HOA office on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 5:30 PM. The next meeting with be on May 5th. The office is located at 3950 US Highway 70 East and Thurman Road.
At the April 7th meeting the HOA Board we discussed Taberna’s finances with the Finance committee. We will soon be moving to set the 2011 budget. If you have items that need to be included in the new budget please contact the Board at covenantsthoa@gmail.com.
The Board also had an excellent discussion with Bo Wernersbach and David Pickens about the Todd Denson Park proposal that their committee had worked up. Bo wrote a summary article for this month’s Taberna Tribune. We have placed the whole proposal on the website TabernaHOA.org, in the General Information section. I would like the community to become involved in this effort so please express your opinions to us at covenantsthoa@gmail.com.
Also within the Taberna Tribune this month is an article about the last quarter’s covenant violations. This is tough job. But in order to keep Taberna as one of the premier communities in Eastern North Carolina it must be done. In many past years it was somewhat hidden from view. However, by making the community aware of the Board’s actions, the violations appear to be under control.
Over the next couple of months the Board will also be reviewing how we are doing on the goals we had set for this year. Please let us know how we are doing, so we can work on problem areas together.
It is spring time and Taberna is greening up. Please do your part to make Taberna look attractive for the homes tours and for the people looking at homes. There have been a number of people inquiring about buying homes in Taberna. Please do your part to spruce up your home and yard. This is what makes Taberna stand out from other communities. Mold on the siding of your home can easily be power washed off. Mail boxes and posts need to be painted. Please leave your cuttings and yard debris at curbside, and bag grass clippings so the City of New Bern can pick it up on Tuesdays. Do not put clippings in the wetlands because this is a violation of US law.
It is also time to form a committee for the annual fall picnic. We need Taberna volunteers to help plan this event in order to make it a great occasion for the community. If we cannot get volunteers to assist there will not be a picnic.
If you have questions as to when a Taberna committee meets please email or call me at ricklayton@msn.com or call 633-1093. I will provide you with the information. We need all the Taberna community to participate in the process of the Taberna Homeowners Association. If you have a few hours that you can spare please become involved in your community.
