PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Taberna Tribune
2 JANUARY 2007
By Bob Costanzo, President THOA

As the newly elected President of the Taberna Homeowners Association, I would like to express my thanks to the three out-going members of the Board, Kurt Weinheimer, Larry Alderson and Glenn Killian for their insights regarding the responsibilities of the Board, and their efforts during the past year. I am looking forward to serving the Taberna community during 2007, and working with the current Board and its sub committees.

The Taberna Master Homeowners Association held its Annual Meeting Monday, December 11, 2006, at the Orringer Auditorium at Craven Community College. Although the minutes of last year's meeting were presented for approval, the lack of a quorum invalidated the vote. Therefore, the minutes will be presented to the HOA members for approval at next year's Annual Meeting.

Lacking a quorum, the election of three new members to replace those whose terms expired at the end of 2006 could not be completed at the Annual Meeting. Therefore, in compliance with the by-laws of the Association, the Board at its monthly meeting December 12, 2006 elected the three new members. I would like to welcome Martha Daniels, Jim Krise and Alva Windham to our Board of Directors. Their two-year terms begin January 1, 2007. Bernadette McNulty was elected Vice-President and Suzanne Forsythe was re-elected as Treasurer. Alva Windham will serve as Secretary.

The past Boards have worked diligently to enhance the common areas and make Taberna one of the finest communities in eastern North Carolina. It is important that we stay focused on key issues and make sound decisions that will serve us well in the future. It is crucial to maintain our financial strength and improve our common areas to keep Taberna a premier community.

At the Annual Meeting we discussed some of the changes that may occur at the front entrance in 2007. Both commercial properties between Route 70 and the railroad tracks have been sold to a developer. The smaller parcel on the east side of Taberna Way has been partially cleared. There have not been any modifications to the larger parcel.

Dick Turner, Chairman of the Architectural Control Committee, discussed the work that recently began on the Taberna Townes site. Dick indicated that, upon completion, there will be 41 upscale units at the townhome site with a projected market price of approximately $350,000. The developer will be working with the appropriate HOA subcommittees to create a landscaping plan that adheres to our standards.

The HOA Board of Directors holds regular meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. If you have a question, concern or suggestion regarding our community, please contact one of your Board members.
